OVERVIEW
At Rangsit University, the duties of a university professor can be categorized into six distinct areas: teaching and advising; research; academic services; cultivating and supporting arts and culture; management (at the department, faculty, university, office, center and project level); and other special assignments as determined by the department and university. The objectives of the counseling system are: (1) to provide academic advice regarding curriculum, course characteristics, course selection, registration, study methods, and evaluation, so that students can study according to their abilities, aptitudes, and interests; (2) to provide guidance on the university regulations and various rules and services provided to students; (3) to provide students with an individual to listen to their problems and assist them in solving academic and personal issues; and (4) to create a positive relationship and mutual understanding between the institution and the students, as well as between the counselor and the students.
ACADEMIC ADVISING ROLES

(Provide advice in accordance with Rangsit University Student Handbook)  

Providing advice and guidance regarding curriculum, registration, course selection, and grade point average calculation.  

Monitoring students’ registration to ensure that it is in compliance with regulations and intervening with students’ registration of certain courses when it is not deemed suitable.  

Advising students on study methods, research, and tracking of their academic progress, as well as warning them of declining academic performance.  

Assisting students in resolving any issues or difficulties related to their studies.  Offering guidance and advice on postgraduate studies, exchange program, further education.  

Serving as advisors for Senior Project and Independent Study.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT

 Providing guidance on various university services, such as healthcare, insurance, dormitory, transportation services, etc.
Advising on personal issues, including physical and mental health issues.
Advising on social issues, such as adjusting to the fit in the society well both within and beyond the university environment,personal development, behavior, and ethics.
Advising on financial issues, such as lack of financial resources for tuition, and seeking assistance for students in this area.
Advising on career issues, such as knowledge, understanding, perspective/attitude, and professional etiquette, as well as providing information and data on the job market and guidance in career paths

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Provide advice regarding regulations, rules, and important policies for student activities.
Facilitate collaboration among students and relevant university and external bodies.
Take responsibility for the outcomes of student activities according to the program.
Ensure safety and proper conduct among students participating in the activities.
Monitor and oversee the arrangements of program activities to fulfill the objectives of the activities.
Evaluate the program after completion in collaboration with the students and report to relevant parties

OTHER ROLES

Examining various student requests and conducting operations in accordance with regulations.
Establishing times / schedule for students to consult advisors consistently.
Coordinating with course instructors and relevant departments to provide assistance to students, in particular, with the offices of registration and student affairs.
Explaining and clarifying the roles of students, e.g. students must consult with their advisors at a designated time regarding course matters, to receive advice, warnings, and career advice.
Providing endorsements or advice on status verification, support for students when they need to present to other parties.
Maintaining detailed records of students under their responsibility in an orderly manner.
